Margate’s favourite neighbourhood restaurant, bottle shop and wine bar is taking over a summer residency at the Fort Road Hotel dining room. Set in the hotel’s beautiful dining room, overlooking Margate’s Bay Beach and Turner Contemporary, the menu offers a fresh take on modern bistro cooking with a signature Pomus twist.

Running throughout the summer, Us @ Fort Road Hotel is all about relaxed dining, great flavours and a space to watch the charms of a classic English seaside town right from your table. Whether you’re dropping in for a glass of wine or a round of sour cherry negronis or coming for a lunch of oysters, bavette with café de paris butter, Koffman’s fries and Caesar salad or those looking for a bustling weekend break away by the sea and staying in one of Fort Road Hotel’s 14 light-filled and individually designed boutique bedrooms. Guests can slip downstairs to the atmospheric basement bar or head upstairs to the open rooftop terrace, perfect for sundowner cocktails watching the spectacular Margate sunset.

Set in former 1820s boarding house, Fort Road Hotel is a stone’s throw from the beach and the old town and just over the road to the Turner Contemporary. Owned by art-world insiders the 14-bedroom boutique hotel is mid-century modern and contemporary with light-filled rooms, many with wide-reaching views across the beach bay. An impressive collection of contemporary art, many by Margate local Tracey Emin and co-owner and local artist Tom Gidley, adds depth to the experience.
